On Monday, November 25, 2019, the Administrative Procedure Division of the Office of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner will hold a public hearing on a number of proposed changes to the Rules and Regulations of the Department beginning at 9:00AM.
These include updates to the Georgia State Fire Code and the Department’s Administrative Hearing Procedures, among others. Any written comments on these proposed changes should be submitted to the Administrative Procedure Division by 4:30pm on Monday, November 18, 2019. Oral comments may be given at the public hearing on November 25th at the Hearing Room of the Office of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner, Ninth Floor, West Tower, Floyd Building, Two Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30334. On April 19, 2019, Centene Corporation filed a Form A statement with the Georgia Department of Insurance. This filing is required in conjunction with the proposed acquisition of control of WellCare Health Plans Inc., by Centene Corporation. WellCare Health Plans Inc. is the ultimate controlling party of the Georgia domestic insurer, WellCare of Georgia, Inc., a health maintenance organization. The Commissioner must either approve or disapprove the proposed transaction based upon the standards set forth in O.C.G.A. § 33-13-3(d)(1).
